Apprenticeship programme

The 16 to 19 Student Bursary Fund gives financial help to students who need it to stay in education. It is not available to young people who are enrolled on an apprenticeship, as you are considered to be in paid employment.

You should speak to your employer or training provider to find out if they have any support funds available.  You could also speak to a National Careers Service advisor to discuss the options available to you.

University student

The 16 to 19 Student Bursary Fund gives financial help to students who need it to stay in Further Education. It is not, however, payable to students who are attending University.

Details of the financial support available to Higher Education students are available online on gov.uk.

Many Universities and Colleges have their own schemes to support students. We recommend that you speak to your university’s Student Finance Team. The Students Union may also have someone who can offer advice and support.
