Post-16 monitoring reminder for recording PLH and EEP hours

Please access the post-16 monitoring dashboard and review your funding monitoring reports to see if your data is triggering:

1.    FRM43 – 16 to19 study programme students with no PLH not identified as requiring additional learning support

We can see students on qualification programmes including L3, diplomas and BTECs with 0 (zero) PLH and only EEP hours.

You must record PLH for qualifications.

2.     FRM56 – 16 to 19 study programmes with PLH but no regulated qualifications

We can see students on non-qualification programmes with PLH recorded. You must record 0 PLH as they are not studying qualifications approved for teaching to 16 to19-year-olds on the ESFA list of qualifications approved for funding 14 to 19.

Record EEP hours only for non-qualification programmes.

3.     FRM69 – Proportion of planned EEP hours is greater than or equal to 50% of the total planned hours and student is not identified as requiring additional learning support

 

We can see PLH being recorded for non-qualification activity and 0 PLH recorded for qualifications. Some instances of EEP proportions between 50 and 100% are due to the incorrect recording of both qualification and non-qualification activity.

Where a learner has values in both PLH and EEP you've got no idea what they're being recorded for? There may be less PLH than you'd expect, but that doesn't make it wrong? In fact, what would be really useful would be some kind of "national averages" (to coin a phrase) for (Band 5) PLH where a learner is, say, L1/L2/L3 Award/Cert/Dip both with and without M&E for 16/17/18 year olds (by GFE/SFC/ILP?)

Never going to be perfect, but would be a really useful guide, I think?
