Good morning Becka,

There are a number of issues that can cause 'XML not well formed.'

Did you manually add in this data or use a tool? If the structure of the code is broken then the file cannot be read.

Cheers,

Hi Henry,

its from our MI system, not manually added. We're working with the software provider also, we noticed that this has been an issue before (via this forum) on the ESFA side too and wondered if anyone else was currently experiencing this.

We're aware its a formatting issue, just can't see where its falling down so hope others may have experienced similar.

Thanks

Hi Becka,

We have not seen any influx in enquiries regarding FM25 and 'XML not well formed' but we will keep an eye out. Best of luck with your MI system. Personally I like to use Notepad++ to review these files back to back for schema errors.

Should you not find a solution with your software providers, please contact us using the online form and include the .XML file password protected, with the password sent in a separate follow-up email. If you wish to upload the file to SLD, please provide the upload reference and we can grab it from there.

Cheers,

I have started to receive this error as well.

If you run it through the FIS software you might get more information by then going into the logs folder and looking at the log file for today's date.

Richard!

Brilliant - thanks for the advice, ran it through the FIS and were able to find the error that broke the file.

Basically text copied into a numeric (ULN) field by accident, would have thought this would bring an ILR error not break the entire file but we move, thanks so much for the help.

Thanks again,

Becka
