The Apprenticeship Agreement stays in force until the Apprenticeship is completed and supersedes any other contract the Apprentice may have with the employer.
The employer may reduce the working hours during the EPA period, but they must be employed for the hours they are undertaking the EPA.

EPA and working hours

We have an apprentice who has been employed for over 30 hours for 15 months and has come to the end of her contract of employment. The apprentice is ready for EPA but this will not happen before her employment contract runs out. Her employer is willing to continue her employment on significantly reduced hours so she can take her EPA. Is there any minimum hours the apprentice must be employed at EPA providing they have already met the minimum apprenticeship requirements. The employer is suggesting half a day a week.
