Membership costs for mandatory qualification

I was sure there was something in the rules that stated that apprentices cant be charged for anything but I'm struggling to find it referenced anywhere in the rules. I'll keep looking for you.

Thank you. The employer rules E59.3 tells you that the apprentice cannot be asked to contribute to "eligible" costs. However as this is a student membership fee linked to a mandatory diploma I am reading it as an "Ineligible" costs so that's why I am unsure if the employer can expect or ask the apprentice to pay for it or if there are any rules around this. Thanks for your help Kelly, the search goes on. I have asked the desk but they have given a 10 day SLA for the answer :)

personally I think its cheeky for the employer to ask the apprentice to pay. 

I agree its not in the learners best interest to have to pay out that's why I was hoping it was detailed somewhere so I could provide the employer with clarification

Did you get an answer on this? I have the same question today and read it as an ineligible cost so it can't come out of levy funds and can't see anything stopping the employer making the learner pay although this does seem unfair.

It says the apprentice is not to contribute towards eligible costs in the rules and doesn't mention not to contribute at all so think the employer I have is looking at that. I did advise them we wouldnt encourage charging learners and that in most cases the employer meets these costs.
