First time we have had this scenario, so need some advice - we have a 17 year old apprentice who is in foster care. Would they be eligible for the care leaver's bursary?
Also, the employer is a larger employer so they would still be co-funded, but are their other additional payments we would be paid if they do come under 'care leaver' or is it just the usual 16-18 year old additional payments?
No one has replied to this post.
For Care leaver, I believe it they fall into the definition of the below then it should be fine:
For co-investment if they have fewer then 50 staff, no 5% required. If they have 51 plus then they will need to pay a co-investment as they are classed as a large employer (but not levy).
Additional Payments the employer is entitled to and is not affect by care leaver, to separate things/payments (one doesn't affect the other).
Hope it helps.

Hi, thanks for your reply - you answered my question more than the response I received from the service desk.
I assume we will need an email/letter from the local authority and a declaration from the learner to confirm he hasn't previously received the bursary & he wishes to receive it?

Does anyone have a template for a care leavers declaration?
